In Burgundy, atop the hill of Vézelay, a Basilica stands between heaven and earth. Classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, this shrine to Marie-Madeleine has been attracting pilgrims for centuries. La Madeleine is an exceptional architecture of light: sun and stone speak to each other through the hours and seasons, in a unique way around the winter and summer solstices.
Christopher Kelly, Heritage Guide, will introduce our members to the symbolism of light in the basilica and the skills of its 12th-century builders.
For this cultural cocktail, our members will be warmly welcomed by Cassandra Surer, Board member of French Heritage Society and Reservation Chairman of the Paris Chapter.
This a French language event.
