Presented in partnership with the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art, The House of Fragile Things traces the stories of five prominent Jewish families in France between the Dreyfus Affair and the Second World War, when the country they thought they knew betrayed them beyond belief. McAuley will walk attendees through the powerful history of Jewish art collectors in France, and how an embrace of art and beauty was met with hatred and destruction.

James McAuley is a journalist with The Washington Post and a contributor to the paper’s opinion page.
