“… da Costa Meyer illuminates the history of Paris in a profoundly new way. She brings a scholar’s rigor and a novelist’s sensibility to the story of the transformation of Paris during [Haussmann’s renovation], especially bringing minor players to the fore. This book belongs in the library of everyone who loves Paris.” Cheryl Hurley, Book Award Juror and President Emerita of the Library of America
