Château de Laxion (Dordogne)
This Périgourdine style Renaissance château is a well-preserved regional gem. Its architecture served to protect against invaders with a square façade with battlements, four round towers and a drawbridge leading to a central gatehouse (châtelet). Its ostentation with large Renaissance windows and an arched gallery facing the sun was a mark of distinction for the newly ennobled civil servant-class in the region.
