Prieuré du Mont St Michel (Manche)
Located across the bay from the celebrated Mont Saint-Michel Abbey, the Prieuré of Mont-Saint is the culmination of many pilgrimage routes coming from the south, the west and the southeast of Europe. This is the last stage of the “miquelot” – the Pilgrimage of Saint-Michel – before crossing the bay.
Benedictine monks established an agricultural estate (orchards, vegetable gardens, plowing) and the seat of the barony since the 10th century, as the Abbot is also a lord.
