A Unique Example of Norman Medieval Premonstrian Architecture – An Architectural and Spiritual Renaissance in a Green Setting

Since 1959, for the third time in its history, this exceptional ensemble has benefited from remarkable preservation and restoration work to offer one of the most complete examples of medieval Premonstratensian architecture in France. The absolute beauty of the architecture, its great luminosity and the authenticity of its well-preserved environment combine to form a unique site filled with spiritual peace.

The site currently offers spiritual visits, masses and religious festivals organized by the Fraternity of the Abbey of Lucerne. The restoration of the abbey’s Mill House  will allow the creation of a Spiritual and Cultural Center focusing on liturgical, social, educational and artistic activities all with a sustainable green community. Project II will focus on additional restoration work of the complex’s historic buildings to more fully accommodate these activities and transformation of the site. Several rooms will host artists’ residences for musicians, composers, painters and sculptures. The site will allow families, youths and adults to reconnect with a serene environment in the context of training programs, creative activities and spiritual awareness through prayer, contemplation and the beauty of Gregorian chants.

A vast campaign is underway to restore the Mill House to accommodate the Spiritual and Cultural Center.
