French Heritage Society safeguards French architectural and cultural heritage in France and the United States by awarding grants for restoration projects.
We work with donors and institutions on both sides of the Atlantic to support grants in several categories for listed or classified historic monuments, each with its own funding model.
Grants for
Owners of Historic Monuments
Chapter Grants Our 11 chapters and their dedicated members raise funds for restoration projects through programs that promote French culture at a local level. In selecting grant recipients, chapters choose among projects presented to FHS by our partners in preservation.
If you are seeking funding for your listed or classified historic monument in France, you can apply through one of our long-standing partners in preservation. You can find our partners here and apply for grants by visiting their websites.
For U.S.-based grant inquiries, contact Melissa Bergholz at melissa@frenchheritagesociety.org.
Funding Opportunities
for Donors
Individually Directed Grants When someone falls in love with one of the treasures of France and wants to help preserve it for future generations, FHS has the tools and relationships needed to make that a reality.
Are you a donor looking to support a specific listed or classified historic monument in France by making a tax-deductible donation in the United States? We can help facilitate your contribution. Please reach out to Samantha Kohli-Brisolier at samantha@frenchheritagesociety.org for more details.
Emergency
Funds
FHS also creates special funds for emergency restoration efforts, which have provided critical support following the fire at Notre-Dame in Paris and Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. If future generations are to know the beauty of historic landmarks and properties, it is our responsibility to act now to protect them.
