George P. Sape, Rosann Gutman, and Ann Van Ness invite you to a wine and culinary celebration in honor of French-American friendship. The dinner will take place under the patronage of Cédrik Fouriscot, Consul General of France in New York, at the Consulate General of France.
Curated by FHS Board Member George P. Sape, this unforgettable culinary journey features specially selected wines from his private cellar, including prestigious Corton-Vergennes Grand Crus. Charles Gravier, comte de Vergennes, was a prominent trader and a powerful member of the court of Louis XVI. He provided significant funds and materiel to the Continental Congress during the American Revolution and used his fluency in court to ally France with the emerging nation. As part of his reward, he was given a plot of land in Corton that yielded a grand cru of Burgundy, bottled as Corton-Vergennes.
