Sabrage is the technique of opening a bottle of champagne using a saber, striking to “pop” the seam of the bottle at its weakest point. Legend has it that the technique was devised when grateful townspeople gifted Napoleon and his soldiers with champagne upon their victorious return from battle but it proved too unwieldy to pop the corks conventionally on horseback.
Bernard Sun, Kobrand Luxury Brand Specialist, will provide a demonstration of sabrage while we sip Champagne Taittinger in an elegant, intimate setting befitting of our incredible YFC New York champagne sponsor.
