Hardouin Burrus and Rémi Domblides are specialized in the restoration of 16th to 20th century works of art. They created the Atelier Monceau in 2009 and work for a large number of private collectors, museums and embassies.
After their presentation of the materials used for the restauration of furniture and objects that they are entrusted with, they will show us how these objects are restored, to what extent and tell us about their ethical approach.
– The materials and their uses: Veneers: presentation of 30 different leaves, their provenances, their names and their uses. Marquetry: demonstration on how to cut different and contrasted materials. Varnishes: presentation of varnishes in their original lorm “flake”. Waxes fill up small gaps.
– Furniture restoration: presentation of works in progress; how the objects are restored up to a certain point, what is their ethical approach. Veneer rebonding techniques on curved, bent or flat surfaces. Upholstery leather: presentation of a selection of leathers whose colors are patinated by hand.
We will end this cultural afternoon with a glass of champagne very generously offered by our hosts.
