“Paris, Capital of Fashion” explores how and why Paris became the international capital of fashion that we all know and love. Curated by Dr. Valerie Steele, director of The Museum at FIT (MFIT), the exhibition features approximately 100 objects dating from the 18th century to the present, which show la mode at the court of Versailles and the development of haute couture into big business and high art. MFIT curatorial staff member Michelle McVicker will lead this special private tour for the FHS YPC group. FHS has supported interns for the past two summers who worked on this exhibition with Dr. Steele, so we’re especially excited to see it! After the one hour tour, we will adjourn to OCabanon for a delicious cocktail reception. The first French cave à manger in NYC, OCabanon draws inspiration from traditional open-hearth cooking famous in the South of France.
Champagne Taittinger, our official, exlusive champagne donor, will be adding their customary sparkle to the evening.
