Meet the Owners Series
An Intimate Look at Three Restoration Projects Supported by FHS Chapters
French Heritage Society, in collaboration with its Atlanta, Dallas, Louisiana, New York and Northern California Chapters is pleased to present this Meet the Owners Series in English. Enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at what owning and maintaining an historic château entails and how FHS grants offer key support and encouragement.
Our first event in the series on Tuesday, May 4th at 1pm EST/ 7pm Paris features Johan Tamer-Morael, the young owner of the Château d’Esquelbecq (Nord-Pas de Calais) which received a Dallas Chapter grant of $10,000. Considered a singularly representative monument of Flemish architecture in the north of France, the Château d’Esquelbecq is characterized by a 13th-century medieval plan, eight towers and striking crow stepped gable-end roofs. The octagonal dovecote built in 1606 faces the château and features a typical Flemish bulb-shaped slate roof with a flag-shaped weather vane. The Dallas Chapter grant supported its restoration which adds a unique charater to the estate. Johan will recount how he has been able to bring this once deserted and decaying château, with its moats and gardens, back to life.
Other events in the Meet The Owners Series:
- May 26th 1pm EST/ 7pm Paris – New York Chapter – Jean-Marc Dupuyet of the Domaine de Chavat (Gironde)
- Tues., June 22 3pm EST / 9pm Paris – Atlanta, Louisiana, Northern California Chapters

This virtual event series is $25 per event. All ticket proceeds from each event support funding of the Chapter grants for the restoration project featured in that conference. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, FHS was able to award $166,000 in restoration grants in 2020 in large part thanks to the efforts of its 11 Chapters. This is your chance to support them and Meet the Owners!
