The Dallas Chapter invites you for Un Déjeuner Français honoring renowned designer Baron Hubert de Vinols.
The Reception will begin at 11:30am, with lunch and presentation to follow.
Baron Hubert de Vinols, the renowned French decorator, interior architect and restorer of châteaux and castles across Europe, is an authority on the French L’Art de Reçevoir – the art of receiving or hosting. His remarkable collection of more than 7,000 pieces of fine antique china, silver and glassware has been built over three decades and through inheritances of magnificent eighteenth- and nineteenth- century tableware from his family domiciled in Paris, Auvergne, and the Loire valley. This unprecedented collection fuels his passion for creating extraordinary table settings and for hosting grand luncheon and dinner parties.
In his lecture, Vinols will shine a light on the history of table setting protocols, the subtle differences in style – past and present – between European countries. He will speak to the grandeur and opulence of historically important parties of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and their legendary hosts and hostesses. He will also share protocols, the “dos” and “don’ts” of yesterday, and today. Revealing the stories behind his current research and work, including the launch of Tables d’exception, Vinols will pose for us an important and timely question: Does today’s trend towards uniformity and minimalism and ‘fast everything’ come at the expense of elegance, refinement and beauty?
